Reading mode, and what's new since your last visit

Reading mode
The book button sits beside the pointer button in the header, and there’s a switch at the top of the light and motion drawer. One tap sets Print Paper, stops the spores, turns up the contrast and switches off the cursor effects, and the spore field fades back to a whisper. Tap again and everything goes back to how you had it. Your browser remembers it between visits, on the entry portal and here. It’s also on the first-visit welcome, as “Just let me read”, and in / search: type read.
What’s new since your last visit
A first visit shows nothing. When you come back, a small ✦ count appears before the search button if anything has been added since: changelog entries, library write-ups, or lines in the ledger. Clicking it opens search with the new things on top, and new things are marked where they appear on the page. Opening it clears the count.
Nothing about your visits leaves your browser: the time of your last visit is kept there, the same way your choice of light is.
