Psanctuary Church on GitHub

The reading room

What the church has chosen to share with visitors: short walk-throughs, the procedures it keeps, and the proposals that are ready to be read. Drafts are read first by the church's own people, in a members' room.

Members: open the reading room

The members' room is the door to everything: the church's proposals, procedures and decks, each with its PDF. Sign in to GitHub first; if you are not yet in the readers team, GitHub shows a 404, and asking for access is the way in.

Decks

A few slides each, to read on a phone or present in a room.

How these pages are made

The template behind every repository here, walked through on sixteen slides (a PDF, in the lab's brass on slate).

Procedures

A procedure says how an approved thing is done, step by step. The church keeps its procedures for its members; the ones its officers choose to share are copied to a public repository.

The church's procedures, public copy

Nine procedures are listed for visitors and arrive with the first copy: start with SOP-COM-001, New to GitHub: your first hour; then how a change travels, pull requests, what may go public, the reading room and your helper, and how GitHub collaboration works here. Each comes with its PDF.

Proposals

A proposal asks the church for a decision. Proposals are read and answered by the church's own people first, in the members' room. 000 Start here (how a proposal reads, how to answer, how to bring your AI helper) is listed for visitors and arrives with the first copy; anything else that is ready is listed under Shared here.

Shared here

Every page the church's officers have chosen to copy into this room.

So far: nothing yet.

Ask for access to the members' room

The members' reading room is private. People the church's officers name are given read access through a GitHub team called readers; nothing in it can be changed by a reader.

  1. Write to the church at info@psanctuary.org or through the contact form, saying who you are and why you would like to read.
  2. Give your GitHub username when asked. Never send a password, a code or a key: nobody here will ask for one.
  3. Accept the invitation GitHub sends you (by email, or the bell icon on github.com), with two-factor authentication turned on.
  4. Open the room at github.com/psanctuarychurch/reading-room in your browser. Every page has a PDF beside it, if you would rather print or send it on.
  5. New to GitHub? The welcome deck above walks the same road, and SOP-COM-001 (among the procedures) is your first hour, step by step.
